Laura Stendell

Laura Stendell is a PhD candidate at the University of Technology Sydney and she is also a Senior Physiotherapist working in neurological rehabilitation. Laura’s research focuses on physical activity behaviours in middle-aged and older people with SCI.

Laura shares her experiences from the conference.

Attending the 63rd ISCoS Annual Scientific Meeting in Antwerp, Belgium, significantly enhanced my research ideas and expanded my professional network. Attending the conference enabled me to attend my first SCI Physical Activity Special Interest Group, with leading experts in the field from across the world present. The conference facilitated meaningful interactions with fellow researchers in the physical activity and quality of life space. I was particularly excited to connect with other young researchers through the SRI grant, sharing insights and experiences that align with our career stages. A highlight was finally meeting our instructional course collaborators from Sweden in person; these connections have enabled continued collaboration on future projects. The knowledge I gained about emerging practices in SCI care will directly inform my efforts to improve health outcomes for individuals with SCI. I’m grateful for the support from SRI, which made this great experience possible.
