SpinalCARE (Clinical and Research Excellence)

The Victorian Spinal Cord Service (VSCS) and the Institute for Breathing and Sleep (IBAS) have worked together to develop a clinical research database for thte VSCS, and a system for integrating data collction within routine clinical practice. Prior to this, the VSCS had no electronic register of its patients, and provide only limited case registration and injury surveillance information to the Australian Spinal Cord Injury Register (ASCIR). The VSCS and IBAS identified the need for a secure, web-based registry providing the necessary flexibility to facilitate a range of future research questions, quality improvement programs and international collaborations. This project is jointly funded by the SRI, the VSCS and a development grant from the Institute for Safety and Compensation Recovery Research (ISCRR).
